Considered as one of the loveliest tropical islands in Southeast Asia, Phi Phi Islands are a huge topic among travelers and tourists in Thailand. Why? Indeed, because the beauty of the island is undeniably stunning, a true paradise for people who want to communicate with nature and experience the ‘laid-back island feeling’. Located 40 kilometers from the shores of Phuket, Phi Phi Islands is composed of six islets, namely Mai Phai, Yung, Bida Nok, Bida Nai, Phi Phi Don, which is the largest, and Phi Phi Leh, which is the second largest among all six islands. Ruined by the huge tsunami that struck Thailand on December 2004, the government managed to successfully reconstruct and modernize its tourism infrastructures and once again become a famous destination in southern Thailand. Phi Phi Islands can be reached by boat either from Phuket (two-hour travel time) or Krabi province (one-hour travel time).

One of the famous islands in Kho Phi Phi is Phi Phi Don, an island paradise and the only inhabited island out of the six. It is where hotels, restaurants, shops and other island accommodations are based. There are various activities to do in the island: you can do kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, deep sea fishing and walking around the island. Even windsurfing, parasailing and water skiing can be done since plenty of resorts offer these services. Another wonderful feature of the island is that there are no established road networks so you won’t see any motorbikes and cars bustling around the place.

Phi Phi Don’s sister island, Phi Phi Leh, is another national marine park sans human habitation. The must-see attractions of the island are the beaches of Ao Pi Le, Ao Lo Sama and Ao Maya. Circumnavigating the island is a worthy experience that everyone shouldn’t miss. This island doesn’t have any hotels or accommodations so the only way to enjoy the island is during daytrips. Of course, a daytrip is composed of fun activities such as snorkeling, swimming, strolling and sunbathing. The island also has a cave, sheer cliffs and a lake so it’s sure fun to explore the place.

There are major must-see attractions in Phi Phi Islands including the Maya Bay, Loh Dalum and Tonsai Village. Maya Bay got its popularity from the movie ‘The Beach’, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio in 1999. Since then, many people witnessed its allure and beauty and it got instant popularity more than the island of Phi Phi itself. Loh Dalum Bay is another breathtaking paradise. With the strong sun in Phi Phi, the shallow water gets warmed swiftly, turning it into a warm bath. The place is also secluded and enclosed so there are virtually no waves all year round. Finally, there is the heart of the village, the Tonsai Village that is on the cape of the island, opposite Loh Dalum Bay on the north.
