The province of Krabi is an interesting place in terms of geological characteristics. It boasts many spectacular landscapes and ecological treasures that make tourists and local visitors flock to it. With its crystal white beaches, cascading limestone formations and rich islands, it is one true paradise that everyone should witness. However, to fully enjoy your vacation, you need to consider the weather in Krabi so you won’t end up with a messed-up vacation due to constant and heavy rains.

Situated just 8 degrees above the equator, it is expected that the general climate of Krabi and nearly the entirety of Thailand will be a tropical climate, having two seasons: the dry and wet season. With these changes in climate, it is recommended that you schedule your vacation during months where the weather in Krabi is almost in perfect condition. When we say, almost in perfect condition, this means clear skies, fair temperature, calm and smooth seas and absence of strong winds that may cause sea roughness.

In terms of weather, you can visit Krabi during the first quarter of the year, particularly end of January or February when the weather is in top condition. This is also ideal to avoid peak season during December where hotels and resorts charge hefty rates due to the high density of tourists. It is also tremendously busy during this time: you may find hotels full. Others opt to travel in Krabi during wet season and because of the rain showers and cooler temperature, hotel rates are cheaper and beaches are less crowded.

During May to October, the weather in Krabi shows rainy season, with a pattern of sunny periods interrupted by short rainfall in afternoons. There are even times of straight rainfall for several days. The best season to book for hotel accommodation in Krabi is during November to April where the weather is hotter and drier. This is the peak season where majority of the people visit the place. However, the monsoon that primarily manipulates the Krabi weather doesn’t change direction promptly each year. There are times when rainy season starts in June instead of May and ends for two months then continues on January. Because of this unpredictable movement of monsoon winds, there’s no exact month when dry season starts since there are chances of rainy spells during this season. Perhaps, the most guaranteed months of sunny weather are during March to April, which are also the hottest months in a year.

The annual average temperature in Krabi is around 28 – 32 degrees Celsius, with the hottest temperature of 36 degrees during March to April and the lowest of 20 degrees during heavy rainstorms. At night, the temperature falls 5 -10 degrees, so make sure you bring sweater or jacket for cold evenings. The entire year, sea temperature remains constant at 28 -30 degrees while humidity levels are dense all year round, ranging from 75 – 100 percent. If the humid climate is an issue, better avoid jungle trekking in Krabi national parks where the environment makes the humidity even worse. Because the weather in Krabi can be unpredictable, it is recommended to take a look at reliable Krabi weather forecasts to guide you when planning your vacation.
